Shopping for Shampoo

How it Started
It would begin with a trip to the local supermarket or drugstore or the local grocery store. I would look at the vast array of choices, and become overwhelmed. After countless years of trying different items, I knew which shampoo I didn't want, but not which one to try next. I had tried the one my sister recommended, but her hair is colored, thin and fine. My hair, on the other hand, is thick and hasn't been treated in years - You're welcome to check with my hairdresser… She also spends a lot more on her hair than I do.

I wanted to have Great Locks
I looked around again and knew in my heart that I wanted to be like those women on the commercials with the long-flowing perfect, strong hair, but didn't really know which bottle was going to give me those results. Inevitably I would give up my search by picking the cheapest bottle on the shelf, not for what it would do, but more because if it didn't make my hair beautiful, at least I hadn't wasted my money.

Going Green
When I joined the Greenfeet team, I began to look at ways I could reduce my footprint on the earth. I started with non toxic cleaning products (I could tell just by the smell that my old ones had to go). Then I purchased some compact fluorescent light bulbs (economical for my husband, green for me!), and then on to décor items (I get to decorate and be green - Alleluia!).

I Made My Move
It took me a bit longer to move on to the personal care items. Perhaps it was a flashback to the drugstore experience - would it do what I needed it to do? Was I willing to pay more than 79 cents to find out? Well I didn't have to. I was lucky enough to try it on one of my visits to greenfeet's main store. I loved it. Had I actually found the "Holy Grail" of shampoos? This shampoo has no toxins, pure essential oils and a great lather. The conditioner left my hair soft and manageable. The natural shampoo and conditioner not only worked well for my hair, it had the beautiful scent of lavender. While my hair might not be long (shampoo can't actually change the fact that I like to keep it short), it is strong and healthy.

Happiness in a Bottle
There I stood in the shower, with the sweet smell of lavender all around me, knowing I wouldn't have to face the shelves at the supermarket anymore. I had found my shampoo - at our store, my store.
